Telco Motion-ettesTelco was the first to come out with a line of Halloween "motion-ettes". The date on the early boxes are 1986, but I don't really think you seen much of them around till the 1987 Halloween season. The term "motion-ette" is actually a trademark name that Telco came up for their animated figures. Thats why you won't see the word "motion-ette" used by other companies that make animated figures. Look up the word motion-ette in dictionaries or in encyclopedias, its not there. These days, the term motion-ette can describe any animated figure. Telco's first line of figures in 1987 included a Witch, Frankenstein- Dracula, Pumpkinead-Ghost, SkeletonMan-In Tux, and a PumpkinHead-Scarecrow. All these figures were the 24 inches tall and were all AC-cord units, no batteries in these. I think thats why I like these figures so much. The Witch, Frankenstein, and Dracula are the most common you'll find, followed by the PumpkinHead-Ghost. The SkeletonMan ad Scarecrow are pretty rare, so grab either of these if you can. I've also seen pictures of a 24-inch Telco called, Mask of the ed Death, but I don't have any info on this figure. Telco also had 17-inch figures. A Witch, Devil, Dracula-Vampire and a Frankenstein monster. On Ebay these figures can go for as little as $30 for a Witch to several hundred for the more uncommon figures. This of course depends on the condition of the figure, whether it comes with the box, and yes, the box and its condition is a big deal to a collector. A common problem you'll find with the boxes that the motion-ettes came in is with the plastic window in the front. Most the time its come unglued from the box, an easy fix, but often times its so scratched up you have to remove it. Again an easy fix, just replace it. I know, a true collector wouldn't want it as much if the window had been replaced. Well, I'm a firm believer of the "as long as everyone thinks its the original it is" theory.
